Welcome to our world

Coastlines and Tanlines, it’s more than just a clever name for our company. Our goal here at CL&TL is to share a little bit of our lives with our fans. We aim to bring a little sunshine to those reading our post from an office or to those who live in less tropical climates. We want to share some of the coastal lifestyle that we are lucky enough to live. So the name is designed to bring you that place right from the start.

Originally derived from Carl’s sign off line reminding us to live life “on the coastlines and between the tan lines”, it should bring images of a sandy shore, the sound of waves crashing, the smell of the salt air and tanning oil. Tan Lines should conjure images of the tan lines you develop while basking in the sun. It should bring to you pictures of the tan lines of your spouse, lover, or new “friend” you made while on vacation that you “lived between”. It’s all part of the lifestyle that we try to bring you as professional vacationers and beach bums.

In our welcoming you into our lives we share pictures and stories from our travels and daily lives on the tropical coast of the world. But more than that we try to share with you a part of who we are and give an insight into our fun and crazy world. So to that end we have decided to launch a new segment to our blog where we can share with you our insights and philosophies on all aspects of this crazy trip around the sun we are all on.

This series is called “The Flip Flop Philosophy” and will be brought to you randomly as the post strike us. For our first installment I wanted to share with you a post I did earlier in the year called “Paradise Found”. This is my favorite post I have written so far and I thought was a perfect introduction to the series. I hope you enjoy it and the others to come. And as always we encourage your feedback and comments.

Very well put Shawn. I live in Kansas & although my soul longs for the ocean, I try to see the beauty that surrounds me. I used to wonder why someone brought up in the middle of a land-locked prairie had such a love for the ocean & I think it’s because the ocean & the prairie are similar in the vast openness that stretches out before you when you look across the horizon. I’ve spent time in the USVI, BVIs & Jamaica, so I look forward to following your posts.

Thanks so much Jane; I look forward to your comments. It all boils down to state of mind; which is what paradise is. For me it’s the sandy beaches and being by the ocean, for others it may be a vast prairie. More than anything though it’s being in the here and now and really living life for all it’s worth, and being in that moment in time. Cheers

Awesome stuff Shawn. Bimini is a favorite spot of mine. can’t wait to see more. And maybe some video inserts as well?

Amazing how intoxicating it can be.
