This one comes to us from St. John Brewers, Cruz Bay USVI.

A few weeks back, while visiting The Tap Room in Cruz Bay, St. John I found a new drink.  The rum & root beer.  I went to enjoy the great beer that St. John Brewers puts out, like Mango Pale Ale and Island Hoppin IPA but I left with a six pack of their house made root beer.  It’s no secret that the Virgin Islands are all about rum. It’s cheaper than Coke and milk and they put it in everything, so why wouldn’t they put it in root beer?

I’m not sure that Kevin and Cheech can be given credit for the recipe as everyone in the islands offer it.  But these guys make the drink what it is because of their great root beer.  I’ve tried this recipe with normal store brands we typically get in the U.S. and it just doesn’t have quit the same flavor.  Nevertheless this is worth a go.
