Ukuleles And Magic
This past Tuesday was truly a special night for me. I was invited to join the aptly named “Uke Troop” from Penny Lane Music Emporium on stage to play with Donavon Frankenreiter at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Now the Uke Troop is a group of ukulele enthusiast of various ages and skill levels and truly a great group of people with some real talent.
Our tasks for the evening was to follow up the Sosos who opened the show. We had a 4 song set list of Stand By Me, I’m Yours, Let It Be and 3 Little Birds we came onstage to an enthusiastic audience and kept them singing along the entire time. It was truly a magical experience for all of us.
Our last task of the night, and my favorite part by far, was to close the show with Donavon and the Sosos on stage! Initially we were just set to play Free but during sound check Donavon added It Don’t Matter. But despite learning another song on the fly we took the stage and rocked the house.
It was such a great experience and I want to thank Armando and all at Penny Lane for having me join their Uke Troop (thanks Paola for invite), Chris and Mitch from the Sosos, and of course Donavon for being such a great musician and allowing us to share the stage with him. He as really appreciative of our performance and was nothing but an amazing person as always.

Here are the videos from our closing set with Donavon. Thanks to my buddy Robin Pearlman for manning the iPhone and getting this for me. Cheers
