My 2012 Year In Review

Sitting here in Wisconsin gazing out at the snow and just waiting to be back in Florida in the warm sun; the place where I am most at home. As I was drinking my coffee I started thinking about the past year and decided to make a quick post. This is just the highlights so if you are new to our blog be sure to stay tuned as I assure you that 2012 had many other trips to the keys and other great locations.

Sailing into 2012

2012 for me couldn’t have started better. In January Carl and I attended the Jimmy Buffett concert in Miami. It was at this show that we made the official announcement that I was joining the Coastlines team. This for me has been an amazing experience. In the past year we have done so much with Coastlines and are looking forward to 2013 and having more travel and more great products to share with all of you.

Mishka!

In February Carl and I, along with Mike from Rum Connection, and Rum Shop Ryan all converged on Tampa for an amazing show put on by none other than Mishka! Of course, as one would expect from this motley Crew of rummies it was much more than a simple show. Our trip started the night before at Casa de Carl with the consumption of lots of rum. The next day we made the one-hour drive into a daylong event of bar hoping. Starting at the beach with Bloody Rummies followed by Sharkey’s for a few recovery beers and a few stops in between we made our show and even got to sit and chat with Mishka for a bit afterwards.

Belize

In March I headed off to Southwater Caye, Belize for a week of exploring the amazing reefs of this part of Central America. From diving the shelf and chasing huge Manta Rays, snorkeling the reefs, and drinking rum with the locals at the Blue Marlin Lodge Bar it was a truly memorable experience and is someplace I highly suggest visiting.

Brothers Of The Sun

One June 2nd I joined forces with Rum Shop Ryan once again for Kenny Chesney’s Kickoff show in Tampa! The behind the scenes action of our hotel are tales best told over a few beers and I think the day is best summarized in the video below. Such an amazing day and a great was to start the summer!

A Week In The U.S. and British Virgin Islands

August and September were such great months. At the end of September my girlfriend and I headed to St. Thomas for a few days where our friend Jeff Howard welcomed us in. We then met up with our new friends Pinky and Dempsey on Jost Van Dyke before heading off to St. John where we slept on a great sailboat on Coral Bay and made some cool new friends.

Bimini

Just one week after returning from the V.I. I was again at the airport heading off to the islands. Rum Shop Ryan, Mike from Rum Connection, and myself all boarded our little plane to Bimini where we made some great new friends and really feel in love with this little island in the stream!

The 2012 Conched in Key West Bar Crawl

The weekend immediately following our return from Bimini we had our second annual bar crawl in Key West with all of our friends at Team Cocktail, Rum Shop Ryan, Rum Connection, Big Kahuna Brew and so many more! We raised thousands of Dollars for Reef Relief and had an amazing time! If you missed this event in 2012 you want to be there for 2013 as we are raising the bar!

Setting The Hook and Plotting The 2013 Course

So 2012 is done and we are getting ready to steam into 2013! For Coastlines, we have a lot of things planned and are looking forward to a big year! We have so many trips in the air right now I can’t even say where we will be! But I assure you that we will be bringing you lots of sunny adventures from around the globe!

And finally we wanted to say thanks to all of our fans! Have an amazing New Year!

So for now I say cheers to all of you from the cold north and farewell to another great year! I am back to my beach bum lifestyle and where the weather suites my clothes in a few days! From snowy Wisconsin; Over and out for now.
